Pastor Carey boldly and passionately proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ from the time he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in Junior High School. He was always ready and anxious to share the gospel with anyone, anytime, anywhere the opportunity arose.

Pastor Carey tenderly shepherded the flock at Westview Bible Church for over forty years. He faithfully and accurately shared the whole Word of God to equip us for vibrant lives in Christ. It was Pastor Carey who not only declared Westview “A Place to Belong,” but he also taught and led us by example to ensure that we were.

Pastor Carey was the Executive Director of the San Diego Sheriff’s Chaplains Program and supported the deputies at the IB Sheriffs station for over 20 years. He had a deep appreciation for law enforcement and went over and above to minister to them.

For more than 20 years, Pastor Carey was the Chairman of the Board of White Fields, a global missions organization that helps equip and support local pastors planting new churches throughout the world. He wholeheartedly believed in the work of this mission from the time he was introduced to it as a young pastor and became a friend of the mission, then was asked to join their board where he was still faithfully serving.

He was a beloved husband and father of four daughters, Papi to ten grandchildren, co-worker, and friend. He loved his family and friends and built many wonderful memories with them, whether through normal daily things like rooting for the Chargers, or special times like celebrations, fun outings, or vacations all around this great country he loved.

We love and miss him. Our hearts ache right now, but we honor him by continuing his strong tradition of faithfully proclaiming the Word of God, worshiping and serving the Lord Jesus Christ, caring for the people of God and communicating the good news of forgiveness in Jesus here and to all parts of the world.

Please don’™t hesitate to join us. We love Jesus, we love His people, and we welcome anyone looking for a safe place to search for life’s answers.

Westview Bible Church remains a place to belong.
