2009 Hacker's Open Champions

27 (-7)

Chris Manookian , Pastor Carey Norman, Jim Norman, Josh Fisher

The putts just kept dropping.

Team Allen -  2nd Place

28 (-6)

Kevin Giles, Wes Allen, Josh Allen, Greg Clark

Long drives, a few missed putts, enough said.

Team Chavez -  3rd Place

31 (-3)

Robert Callahan, Luis Chavez, Robert Nicoll, Lena Ramos. They beat out three other teams at 3 under to take possession of 3rd Place by scoring birdies on both the number one and number two handicap holes. Their Tiger red team shirts must have paid off!

Team Evans/Piscitelli -  4th Place

31 (-3)

Charlie Evans, Patrick Evans, Jim Piscitelli, Alex Piscitelli

They won 4th Place by scoring birdie on number one handicap hole, par on 2nd handicap hole.

Team Agte -  5th Place

31 (-3)

Ron, Randy, Aaron and Jessica Agte

They posted 5th Place by scoring par on 1st handicap hole and birdie on the 2nd handicap hole.

A birdie on the 1st handicap hole would have given them 3rd place!

Its a game of inches.

Team Piscatelli -  6th Place

31 (-3)

Earon Carter, Herb Easton, Mike Zatarain, Jim Savageau

They got 6th Place by scoring par on 1st and 2nd handicap holes.

No one had more fun than this team!

Team Allen #2-  7th Place

32 (-2)

Ray, Zach, Mike, Bill and Eric Allen

They won 7th Place by scoring birdie on the 6th Handicap hole. They tied with Erik Worthington's team on the first FIVE handicap holes! That's the longest "card off" in Hacker's Open history!

Team Worthington -  8th Place

32 (-2)

Joe Engle, Erik Worthington, John Reed, Billy Crowe

They got 8th Place and were beat out for the 7th place spot by scoring a par on the 6th handicap hole after tying Team Allen #2 on the first 5 handicap holes. If only they had sunk that eagle putt on hole number one after driving the green! That would have vaulted them to 3rd place in the tournament! Got to sink those putts.

Team Padilla -  9th Place

32 (-2)

Ramon Villa, Roberto Lopez, Tony and Jake Padilla

9th Place by failing to turn in their score card. Tony drove off with the team's card!

Maybe we should have disqualified them and made them don the Plaid Jackets.

Tony said they had a ton of fun.

Team Neal Electric -  10th Place

35 (+1)

Jaime Eguiza, Gary Stacy,Victor Almazan, Danny Williams took sole possession of 10th place with 4 pars, 2 birdies and three bogeys.

Team Ryniec -  11th Place

36 (+2)

Marty, Elsbeth, Carly and Evelyn Ryniec stayed out of range for the Plaid Jacket Award with some great help from Carly's 30 foot birdie putt. That's O.K. since we don't have a plaid jacket big enough for Marty.

Team Burgos -  12th Place

39 (+5)

Charles Burgos, Billy Blair, Jerusha Case, Aaron Hacket, Malisa Burgos had a close call with the Plaid Jackets but pulled out 12th place with one birdie, 2 pars and 6 bogeys! Way to go Team Burgos!

Team Kika -  Last Place

2008-2009 Back to Back Plaid Jacket Champions

42 (+8)

Lindsay Norman, Sarah Jones, Kika Roberts, Samantha Welch

are once again our Plaid Jacket Champions. They bested their team score from last year (+16) by 8 strokes! There was some controversy regarding the existing Plaid Jacket Team Hacker's Record (+23). It appears that the girls putted out without pulling the flagstick (a 2 stroke penalty) on 8 out of 9 holes! Technically, that would have added 16 strokes to their score making it a new Plaid Jacket record at +24! However, due to the graciousness of the tournament chairman, we posted their score at +8 since they were unaware of the flagstick rule. No excuses next time!

2009 Hacker's Open Championship Team

Josh Fisher, Carey & Jim Norman, Chris Manookian

2009 Plaid Jacket Team presented with the Twisted Club Award along with a ton of fun gifts and prizes including Rudy's World Famous Pork Rinds, Giant Sponge Bob Coloring Book and the Andy Griffith Show Bible Study Series!

Long Drive Champs Zach Allen (290 yds) and Jessica Agte (200 yds) drive for show with outstanding drives on hole number seven!

P.C. presents the Best Shot of the Day Awards to Joe Engle for driving the green on hole number one! By the way, they missed their eagle and birdie putts to score a par. Drive for show and putt for dough! Great Shot Joe!

P.C. presents the "Martin David Ryniec Award" for the Worst Shot of the Day to Robert Nicoll for whiffing a stroke without moving the ball.

Carly Ryniec drained a 30 foot putt for birdie for the best putt of the day.

Danny Williams got second longest putt of the day with a 25 footer!

Closest to the Pin winners: Pastor Carey's son-in-law John Reed (12 feet) and Jessica Agte (25 feet). Team Agte sunk their putt for a birdie.

Even though the Norman Boys had to walk the tournament, they enjoyed their stroll to victory starting with 6 straight birdies. Some complaints were heard in the gallery regarding his 15 year old nephew hitting from the forward tees (which is completely legal according to tournament rules). Can Pastor Carey help if he's better at finding ringers than the Allen Boys???

Special Thanks to Luis Chavez, Marty Ryniec, Jim Piscitelli, Dave Lopez, Sheila Roberts and Carey Norman for donating many of the prizes for this year's Hacker's Open and to everyone who participated in the raffle which helps to keep the price of the tournament reasonable for everyone!

See you all next year!
